Appearance: Klavier stands at just above average height and is pretty skinny with slightly tanned skin. He has long, blonde hair that is braided into a bizarre twist that looks a bit like a drill point, and blue eyes. He almost always has a smile on his face, giving him the air of an easy-going, generally good guy. He wears a LOT of jewelry and chains: his left ear is pierced, he wears three rings (one on the left hand, two on the right) and a necklace of a stylized “G” suspended by a chain, he has a chain hanging off of some of his belt loops; heck, even his belt resembles a chain. He generally wears a black shirt and pants with a purple jacket.
Personality: Klavier’s personality can sometimes belie the fact that he’s been a prosecutor for seven years. He’s confident, self-assured, almost always smiling, and extremely laid back, with a prominent habit of poking fun at almost everyone for almost anything. He’s a flirt and a tease, and he has no issues with being in the public eye. He’s quite charismatic, able to talk to anyone quite easily and readily. He comes off as arrogant more often than not, which can easily annoy the hell out of almost anyone and doesn’t exactly help his reputation as a diva.
Klavier is very level headed, but that doesn’t mean he never loses his cool. Though he has a lot of patience, his supply of it isn’t exactly unlimited (although it’s pretty darn close to it), and too many things gone wrong will aggravate his perfectionist streak. He hates seeming unprepared for anything, and once he’s upset about something, he becomes somewhat excitable and quick to complain; if whatever it was that set him off is even mentioned he’ll start whining again.
What Klavier lacks in a serious attitude, though, he makes up for in his desire to find the truth in a case and see justice upheld for the right people. He’s a rare, honest prosecutor who cares more about making sure the correct person is convicted than a perfect track record. Though he sometimes seems careless in the way he conducts his job as a prosecutor, he seriously cares about his work. He likes to keep things civil between the defense and the prosecution and refrains from using any dirty tactics against the opposing side of the court. He is wholly capable of taking himself and situations seriously despite his laid-back nature. He is also immensely trusting, being one the few to actually leave the investigating business to the detectives, actually confident in their abilities. He has a strong sense of justice and wishes to see the law upheld.
Abilities: Besides being able to play the guitar and sing pretty well, Klavier is very charismatic. He can get a person’s attention, get his point across easily, and is easy to talk to. To balance that out, he’s fairly good at listening, too. Being of German origin, he can speak German (which often intersperses throughout his English) if the need arises, as well as a little “Borginese”.
Weaknesses: Klavier is a perfectionist, particularly when it came to his band, and any number of things could irritate that and cause him to lose his head. He becomes angry and whiny and quickly jumps to complain about whatever it is that pissed him off in the first place, sometimes even dragging smaller events into it (“my keys were stolen, my hog won’t start…”). Even when a murder took place at one of his concerts, he seemed to be more upset about the slightly off-time performance by the guitarist than the crime itself…even though nobody would have noticed the mistake.
Klavier can also be considered too laid back. He’s even laid back in court, and sometimes lacks presence because of it. He’ll jump in to object to, add, or hint at something from time to time, but occasionally he seems to just fade into the background of the courtroom. He might also be considered a little too trusting; unless there’s solid evidence or reasonable doubt against a person he really trusts, he rarely questions them, even if he should.
Manhattanite or outsider? Outsider
History: Klavier became a prosecutor in Germany at the young age of seventeen and came to America to start work. His first case was famous defense attorney Phoenix Wright’s last. After receiving a tip-off that Wright intended to present forged evidence—specifically, a page from a diary--in court from his brother, Kristoph Gavin (also a defense attorney, who Klavier was originally supposed to face in court for his first trial), he prepared a special witness: Drew Misham, the public front for the actual forger, Vera Misham. Wright was later disbarred, and his client (Shadi Enigmar, better know as Zak Gramarye) vanished to avoid a guilty verdict, not to appear again for seven years. Though Klavier always wondered how his brother knew about the forged evidence ahead of time, he never questioned it.
After this point, Klavier’s band (called “the Gavinners”) picked up steam and became popular. Though he still worked as a prosecutor, he put a lot of focus on his music career and wasn’t in court very often. However, seven years later, when his older brother was found guilty of the murder of a man named Shadi Smith by rookie attorney Apollo Justice, Klavier found some incentive to cancel a few concerts.
…Klavier lost that case to Apollo, as well as two cases afterwards. The first of those two occurred backstage at a concert for Klavier’s band, and ended when Klavier’s trusted friend and fellow band member Daryan Crescend was found guilty of the murder. The second was a trial run of the jurist system that tied into his case against Phoenix Wright seven years prior. Through State vs. Misham, the truth about the case came out: Kristoph Gavin commissioned the forgery (not Phoenix), murdered Drew Misham, and tried to murder Vera Misham. Though both Apollo and Klavier brought this to light, Kristoph refused to confess to anything, and would have gotten away with everything due to lack of decisive evidence if it weren’t for the jury. With the trial over and his brother incarcerated yet again, Klavier decided it was time he focused more on his career in law, splitting up the Gavinners to do so.
Shortly thereafter, he arrived in Manhattan.
